The Somali Communities Council Leadership structure;
- The Executive
The executive comprises of 7 members. The president is the chair of the executive team. The persons in the executive team hold the following positions.
- The President
- The vice President
- Women Leader
- Treasurer
- Secretary
- Public Affairs Officer
- Youth, Sports and recreational programs leader
2. The Council of Elders (Board of representatives)
The Somali Communities Council has a board of representatives that is called council of elders. It is led by Chairperson of the council of elders.
The council of elders comprises of 17 members representing the diversity within the Somali Community. The role of the council of elders is an oversight over the executive on behalf of the Community.
3. The Organisation’s staff (Employees)
Subject to panel process, the executive team of the association does from time to time employ suitable persons to the positions of Programs Manager or Officer, Senior Project Officer, Project Officer or programs coordinator to provide service on behalf of the organisation and represent the president in forums where the president has been invited to.
Each role has an approved role description and selected persons are formally appointed by the president to undertake their duties as per their role description.
4. Registered Volunteer Roles
There are more than 20 volunteer roles that the president fills with enthusiastic and qualified persons to provide an on going services to the community and support the communal partnership with the rest of the Australian Society.
The roles include Anti-radicalism teaching of the religion and culture (1 coordinator and 2 teachers); Ethnic school and language teaching support officers; Conflict resolution officers; family violence education and prevention support coordinators; Event coordinators; Elderly people engagement coordinators; sports coaches and assistant coaches, Event coordinators; Women networks group leaders, vulnerable women support coordinators and directors of programs based on initiatives by the executive.
